London, UK, 8 July 2021 – Qobuz, the Hi-Res streaming service, and Mercury KX, the London-based neo-classical and avant-garde label teamed up at this year’s SXSW to showcase a series of artist performances. Mercury KX artists Sebastian Plano, Lambert, Luke Howard, and Sophie Hutchings each performed a sonically spellbinding instrumental/electronic set that kicked off the SXSW music programme each day. Now, an EP featuring a live recorded track from each of the four artists will be released as a 24-bit/44.1kHz Hi-Res EP exclusively on Qobuz titled “MKX x SXSW,” out July 16th.
The EP is the latest release specifically recorded for Qobuz, and the first to be created from a live-for-audiences performance. It’s also the latest addition to Qobuz’ exclusive collection of content – music, essays, playlists, and more – that make it the choice of true music lovers, especially classical, jazz, and “genre” fans. In the past few months alone, Qobuz has exclusively put out (all in Hi-Res): a Christian McBride EP, Tower of Power live album, and multiple Frank Zappa albums.
